Tender description

The Subway, which comprises 2 circular routes (each of approximately 10,4 km), is a slab track system in which rail is supported by independent (i.e. no connecting steel bar) twin-block reinforced sleepers (blocks) located either side of a central drainage channel. Blocks are set directly in the surrounding concrete trackbed, with no supporting pad/boot. There are twenty three (23) standard check rails in the slab track system, with a total combined length of approximately 1 km. Blocks through each check rail are of a modified design to accommodate the check rail baseplate. Block design is further modified at locations where conductor rail and check rail are coincident. In summary, there are a total of four (4) block types in the system and SPT requires a sole supplier to supply all 4 types. The contract will be a 10 year supply contract. The price of each block shall be the total price including all production, storing and shipping costs to SPT stores at Broomloan depot Delivered duty paid (DDP). This Contract is to be 5 year agreement with a break clause after year 5 at which SPT will review quantities and performance. Subject to performance, SPT will extend the contract for a further 5 years with the single supplier and review pricing with the supplier based on Consumer Price Index (CPI) based on the preceding 12 months.
