The completion of a feasibility study into the development rerquirements and ecconomic potential of a South East Coastal Blueway in the coastal region.

Tender description

Blueways are water paths or trails that are developed with launch points, camping locations or other accommodations and points of interest for canoeists, paddle boarders ,kayakers, snorkelers and divers and are developed to encourage recreation, ecological education and preservation of wildlife resources. Blueways is now a recognised international brand which water users actively seek out. Official trails, which are vetted and approved, giving confidence to the user that the trail is safe for all levels of ability. The Bantry Blueway in Co. Cork and the pilot Wild Atlantic Way Blueway in Counties Mayo and Galway are early examples in Ireland. The Irish Sports Council-National Trails offices have developed a questionnaire which should be used in any request for a Blueway designation. This questionnaire will be useful in developing a suitable proposal. Counties Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow have significant coastline, potential access points and ecological resources which have been developed into Blueways elsewhere. A brief description of each county is listed below. This listing is indicative only and not intended to be considered comprehensive or limiting any proposals for development which may arise from this tender. It is in this context that the Clients seek services to assess, recommend and cost delivery of a suite of interventions to realise a Coastal Blueway in the south east.
