Supporting the development of the mental healthcare workforce within the North of England

Health Education England (HEE) working across the North is working with stakeholders to ensure that the mental healthcare workforce have the right skills to deliver high quality, compassionate care and has the enough capacity and capability to meet the ambitions of the Five Year Forward View for Mental Health (DOH 2016). To guide its contribution HEE working across the North, has developed a workforce and education plan (Appendix 1). As part of this plan, HEE has identified several areas where further detailed understanding of current system plans and ways of working, workforce innovations and opportunities for focused education developments to meet key workforce needs are needed. Consequently, HEE is seeking expressions of interest from interested parties to undertake a range of individual yet connected range of projects which will help provide a comprehensive understanding of key mental healthcare workforce issues, help focus priorities for action given an understanding of these key issues within the context of current reality and maturity of development and the opportunities for developments which will have an accelerated impact on workforce supply, capacity and capability. On this basis we are seeking a provider(s) who can undertake the following projects • Project 1: The contribution of Independent and Third Sector organisations in supporting the delivery of mental health services • Project 2: New Support Roles in Mental Health • Project 3: Pathways into Mental Health Careers • Project 4: Parity of Esteem & Preparing the workforce for improving Access to Mental Health Services • Project 5: Mental Healthcare within Prisons Keywords: Mental Health
