Tender description

This contract award is for the Provision for purchase of PDS Dosemeter (TLD) Reader and Dosemeters for PHE's Personal Dosimetry Service, a part of their Centre for Radiation Chemical and Environmental Hazards, provides a full-cost-recovery commercial service to radiation employers in the UK and abroad. PHE's Personal Dosimetry Service(PDS), a part of their Centre for Radiation Chemical and Environmental Hazards, provides a full-cost-recovery commercial service to radiation employers in the UK and abroad for over 15 years. PHE’s PDS laboratory has a fleet of 6 Harshaw Thermoluminescent dosemeter (TLD) system using the largest 8800 readers and the 2-element TLD cards. The Laboratory also has several pieces of bespoke equipment that helps to automate this service by checking-in the dosemeters, un-wrapping and wrapping the dosemeters and sorting the dosemeters. All these are designed specifically for PDS to give a highly efficient and cost-effective service to PHE customers. The PHE Personal Dosimetry Service (PDS) is currently working near to capacity with reduced resilience in the face of business continuity interruptions and is unable to meet business requirements without investment in a new dosemeter reader and associated equipment. The new reader must ensure compatibility and provide backward integration into PDS’s existing workflow. The need to integrate into our current system is essential, and only the Harshaw Reader is capable of reading the Harshaw 2-element TLD’s as well as the EXTrads and DXTrads as a part. Hence it is only possible to expand by acquiring Thermo Scientific “Harshaw” readers and equipment. The Harshaw TLD readers are solely distributed by Phoenix Dosimetry Ltd in the UK. Thus, PHE intends to award the contract to Phoenix Dosimetry Ltd for the Harshaw TLD reader, its supporting equipments and associated carriage cards. Regards, Ruchika Khanna Lead Category Manager.
