The PHA seeks to build strong, resilient communities where everyone has the potential to maximize their health and wellbeing and there has been an ongoing commitment to community development within health and social care because of its relevance to the tasks of promoting social inclusion, building social capital and tackling inequalities. Community development approaches in health and social care offer opportunities for change for people and communities experiencing disadvantage and otherwise lacking the power to change their circumstances. Communities which are strong and have good infrastructure are healthier communities with people more likely to access services and take responsibility for their own health. THerefore the PHA is seeking to commission the development and delivery of a community development capacity building programme.
