University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) intends to tender for integrated pathology services across the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull Hospital sites. UHB requires a solution to provide standardised and consistent care. UHB aim to develop a single integrated pathology model across the Birmingham and Solihull (BSol) Sustainable Transformation Programme (STP), to ensure standardised and consistent care with equity of access inline with the NHS England STP exercise and bring together existing clinical expertise. This will enable the pathology services to become more efficient, in order to deliver better value, high-quality care for patients with: — harmonised processes and procedures, — standardisation of equipment and consumables, — IT connectivity between all sites within the wider BSol footprint, — integration with primary care, other social care services and the third sector, — managing increasing demands on pathology services, supporting Laboratory service users.
