Tender description

Kent County Council requires a contractor to complete the following: Objective 1: to define the conservation, documentation, selection and retention standards to be applied for the Kent archives solution (‘the Kent Archaeological Archiving Standard (draft)’) Objective 2: to test the Kent Archaeological Archiving Standard (draft) against a sample (10%) of the HS1 archaeological archives awaiting deposition in order to identify ways in which they are/are not ready for deposition. Objective 3: to write a Conservation and Documentation Needs Assessment (CDNA) report for the archives tested that will identify the areas of concern and describe the work that would be needed to bring them up to the Standard. Objective 4: use the CDNA to identify the costs and programme of actions (Deposition Preparation Programme, DPP) that would be needed to prepare all the HS1 archives for deposition Objective 5: (i) to develop a recording system that will link objects, boxes and archives and permit recording of information on condition, type, material etc in a manner suitable for importing into the Historic Environment Record. This is to be in the form of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. (ii) To enter the relevant data from the condition assessment into the system.
