Tender description

The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership, hosted by Velindre NHS Trust are acting on behalf of Cardiff and Vale University Local Health Board who are seeking to establish a contract for the capital purchase of a Mass Spectrometer and uHPLC and a FT-IR Spectroscopy and associated maintenance. To compliment Lot 2, a fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrometer is required for the identification of drugs plus excipients. The instrument should: — be portable but robust for use outside of the laboratory, — be able to analyse samples including powders and tablets directly or with minimum pretreatment, — contain all the hardware required for this, — come with a library of compounds to aid identification. The Toxicology Laboratories located at the University Hospital Llandough require a high-resolution mass-spectrometer capable of measuring exact mass on precursor and fragment ions for the purpose of identifying psychoactive drugs, steroids and other peptides for the WEDINOS project. The instrument must: — be provided with a solution for presenting samples of powders, tablets and plant material (that may be dissolved in solvents) to the mass spectrometer for analysis, which must include a suitable uHPLC system, — be capable of analysing small molecules and large intact proteins with masses of at least 35 kDa, — be capable of generating fragment ions for matching the sample to library compounds.
