SPECIFICATION FOR FOLDING BIKE HIRE SCHEME & DOCKING STATION

Tender description

The contract is to install a secure storage solution, known hereafter as a docking station, for folding bikes which can be hired to members of the public. The contract is to include the provision of the folding bike, the ongoing management of the docking station and the associated hire scheme. The population of the borough is expected to grow over the forthcoming years and this will require additional accommodation to be provided. A number of high density residential apartment blocks have recently been built or are under construction around Sutton town centre which, owing to the relatively high public transport accessibility level (PTAL) in this area, have limited provision for car parking. Sustainable transport is, therefore, key to accommodating the demands for travel that the growth will engender and ensuring the continued success of the borough. To increase travel choices within the borough it is proposed that a folding bike hire scheme be installed within the vicinity of Sutton Station as part of the project aimed at improving air quality under the Mayor’s Air Quality Fund.
