Tender description

The service is to undertake traffic counting within Great Britain on both major and minor roads, on behalf DfT. Counts take place on public roads only except in the case of a few major private roads (e.g. M6 Toll road, roads around airport boundaries). The Count Point locations are specified annually by the Department for Transport, and counting must take place on specified dates at the exact defined Count Point locations unless otherwise agreed by DfT. The Contract relates to the management, staffing and conducting of counts, the basic validation of data, the submission of data to DfT and general quality assurance of all the processes involved. Although it does not cover any subsequent analysis of the data or any research activities, on occasion DfT may request the use of different methodologies, equipment etc to be used by the Consultant in order to enable DfT to collect data for its own research purposes.
