Tender description

The University Of Manchester requires a Nano IR, Quantum Cascade Laser System with environmental chamber & scanning thermal probe. A laser-coupled AFM instrument operating over infrared wavelengths. The system should have the capability to acquire point spectra in the infrared on the nanoscale and be able to high resolution AFM imaging alongside infrared response mapping at a specified wavelength at < 50 nm spatial resolution. The instrument should be capable of acquiring scattering scanning near field optical microscopy images, via an interferometer along with polarisation control of the incident laser. The system is ideally upgradable to house additional lasers and optics in the future. The system will be used to analyse a range of 2-dimensional materials, both in isolation and in applied systems such as composites and biomaterials. As some 2-dimensional materials are highly sensitive to atmospheric conditions, a configuration for inert-gas and humidity controlled. Please refer to procurement documents.
