The Wales Tourism Product Database (WTPD) is the database of accommodation, attractions, activities and events which supports product search on visitwales.com as well as supporting visibility of products on other platforms and websites e.g. on satellite navigation systems and on local authority tourism websites. Approximate numbers of listings on the current WTPD are as follows: — accommodation – 4 800, — attractions – 1 400, — activities – 600, — events – 300. The WTPD has around 1.2m unique searches a year. Re-procurement offers the opportunity to improve the WTPD by: — increasing product coverage through implementing: an easy to use and reliable bilingual digital interface for tourism related organisations to list accommodation, activities and events and see key statistics for their products; a helpline / live-chat service for organisations that need. Help listing or amending products; a service to gather and input key tourism events. — improving data quality through putting in place: an easy to use and reliable digital interface for tourism related organisations to update their listings; a module/s that can automatically check draft listings (against agreed set criteria); a service to check listings before they go live on the WTPD, — developing additional functions including: capacity for each listing to be able to include videos and a higher number of images; capability for listings to include user generated content from social media and other channels; incorporate fields for “the travel trade” and “business events”.
