Summary of the work The Forestry Commission is transitioning to GOV.UK. The role will involve close working with the wider Defra content team. A senior content designer has developed a set of core user needs and a content plan. A specialist is now required to take forward the delivery of the content plan. Specialist role Content designer Expected Contract Length 2 months Latest start date Thursday 15 February 2018 Maximum Day Rate £525 excl. VAT Who Speclialist Work With The specialist will work with a project team made up of a project manager, the communications team and technical web team. What Specialists Work On Delivery of content redrafting and publishing with existing publishers and ‘information owners’ Content redirects strategy and management with GDS Development of taxonomy and naming conventions in conjunction with wider DEFRA content team Skills & Experience • Have extensive experience of writing content for the web, with proven ability to create complex content in a clear and succinct way • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills, with the ability to see the bigger picture and translate business issues and needs into relevant, actionable plans and objectives • Ability to work with users and stakeholders at all levels • Excellent communications skills and ability to present findings in a creative and compelling way • Experience of working on services which align to the Government Digital Service’s Design Principles and Digital Service Standard • Experience of working with Whitehall Publisher on GOV.UK projects Nice to Haves Previous experience of working within government organisations Work Location The role will be based in Bristol with the option of remote working for some days of the week. Working Arrangments The role will be based in Bristol at least 2 days a week for the first 3 weeks with an option to work remotely on other days. After the initial 3 weeks, we would expect the specialist to come to the office once a week or two days every fortnight. We will cover overnight accommodation costs for specialists when visiting Bristol if required. Security Clearance Basic security clearance required. No. of Specialists to Evaluate 5 Cultural Fit Criteria • Work well in a collaborative team • Be open and inviting of the views of others and respond despite pressure to ignore, revert or concede • Be adaptive to constant changes • Comfortable with ad-hoc content requests and the delivery of them Evaluation Weighting Technical competence 70% Cultural fit 10% Price 20% Questions from Suppliers 1. Is the role deemed inside or outside of IR35? We currently do not think the role will fall under IR35 but this will be assessed fully when selection has been made. 2. What Content Management System (CMS) is used? The CMS used by .gov.uk is Whitehall Publisher
