Medway Council strives for sustainable procurement and this Clothing and PPE contract requires organisations to meet the diverse needs for the Council’s health and safety requirements, while minimising damage to the environment. This agreement is designed to be a “one-stop” framework for clothing and PPE requirements, products and services. The supplier will be flexible to provide products and/or services for changing needs and the nature of the service required. The contract will commence on the 1.4.2018 and will continue for a period of 2 years where there will be one option to extend for further 24 months. The maximum contract length will therefore be 4 years ending on the 31.3.2022. Like all central government departments, Medway Council and its related organisations must ensure that they meet the Government Buying Standards when buying products and services for those product groups covered within this contract. The mandatory standards are encouraged for the wider public sector to specify in tenders: — energy in use, — water in use, — end of life costs, — reparability, — upgradeability, — recyclability, — hazardousness of materials used, — resource efficiency — quantities of scarce materials used and recycled content.
