Testing of Baby Carriers and Slings for compliance with Product Safety Requirements

Suppliers are strongly encouraged to read the text at the following link to gain a full understanding of the Product Safety role within the Office for Product Safety and Standards: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/strengthening-national-capacity-for-product-safety-strategy-2018-2020 Requirements: To perform a range of mechanical, flammability and chemical tests on a selection of baby carriers and slings and to verify compliance with the following Regulations (and any amendments to these): 1)The General Product Safety Directive (GPSD) 2001/95/EC 2)UK Statutory Instrument 2005 No. 1803 - CONSUMER PROTECTION The General Product Safety Regulations 2005 The test methods applied should follow the standards indicated, or other reliable, accurate and reproducible calculation and measurement methods, which take into account the generally-recognised state of the art. Relevant Standards and Technical Report BS EN 13209-2:2015 PD CEN/TR 16512:2015 EN 71-2:2011+A1:2014 EN 1103:2005 EN 71-3:2013+A1:2014 EN ISO 14184-1 EN ISO 14362-1:2017 Test Reports - In addition to any requirements/format described in relevant testing standards, the BEIS specific content shall apply: SEE ITQ DOCUMENT A total of 30 baby carriers and slings will be tested. This will breakdown into 15 carriers and 15 slings. Due to the destructive nature of the testing, we are planning to purchase 3 examples of each carrier and sling. Testing to start w/c: 19/11/18 Testing to be completed by: 28/02/19 Please ensure you review all attached information to ensure a full understanding of this requirement. All attachments can be found with the RFx attachments tab within the Emptoris System. This contract will be awarded based on the evaluation criteria set out in the ITQ document.
