Co-Op Department Store Creative Co-Working Redevelopment

Lancaster City Council is working with the Exchange Creative Community Interest Company to bring a long-term vacant former Co-Op Department Store back into productive economic use. The aim is to make Centenary House ‘Department Store’ a hub for community led business and enterprise start-ups with shared infrastructure and resources leading to benefits of cross-trading, opportunities for professional development, access to business support services and shared resources. The council is seeking quotations from a multi-disciplinary team with input from architects, building and development surveyors, quantity surveyors and other building professionals. The output of this commission is the production of costed architectural plans to RIBA Stage 4. The construction costs and work space provided will inform a separate body of work to bring together everything necessary to present a viable business plan to future funders to refurbish Centenary House as a community led business/enterprise hub Keywords: Design, Building feasibility, Architecture
