Croydon is undergoing amazing transformation, with the iconic Fairfield Halls and central Croydon soon to become the cultural destination for south London. The revamped Halls, reopening in 2019, needs an equally bold and ambitious setting. Croydon is looking for a talented team of architects and landscape architects to create an exemplary public space that will become a fantastic venue. To register an expression of interest go to www.londontenders.org London Borough of Croydon is seeking world class consultancy services for a professional design team in relation to public realm transformation of Fair Field (also referred to as College Green). The Fair Field project will deliver a platform for cultural activity related to the Fairfield Halls, including external space that will be capable of providing a venue for performances. The project will deliver a new public realm infrastructure. The venue is currently undergoing a 30 000 000 GBP redevelopment and as part of this development, the council is seeking a world class architect to design a multi-functional open space (combination of hard and soft landscape) capable of accommodating events, performances and leisure activities. Fair Field (previously referred to as College Green) will be a truly world class public space. The strategic objectives of this project are: — a destination: create a regional destination anchored by significant institutions (the Fairfield Halls and Croydon College) that contribute to and benefit from their surroundings, — strong public realm: a world class animated, attractive and well-used public realm that complements surrounding spaces and uses, — an active space: a vital mix of activities giving opportunities for local enterprise, cultural and community activity, informal play and activation, — more connected: better walking and cycling connections to and through the masterplan area and to the wider network of public spaces and walking and cycling network beyond; particularly better connections to George Street and East Croydon station, Barclay Road and across Park Lane to Queens Gardens, — new developments: a space that complements, relates positively to and helps optimise existing and future development, — a resilient space: a place designed and planned to be flexible and to be capable of being managed and maintained over the long term. The Council intends to run a Competitive Procedure with Negotiation for this procurement The aim of this PIN is to notify potential suppliers to the forthcoming opportunity which will be advertised by the publication of a contract notice through the London Tender Portal.
