Network Rail are looking for potential suppliers to discuss possible options and approaches for the design and build of modular welfare units to be fitted to the Barrier Wagon fleet. These units are to be interchangeable with the current storeroom containers. The conversion of Sleeper Carrier Wagons into Barrier Wagons is also required. — Network Rail own and operate a fleet of YXA (L) Sleeper Carrier Wagons (SCW) and — YSA(B) Barrier Wagons (BW). Due to restructuring of the high output fleet, there is an opportunity to undertake the work detailed below that will enhance both the BW fleet and most importantly, the welfare facilities for the high output workforce during an operational shift. Network Rail are looking for potential suppliers to discuss possible options and approaches for the design and build of modular welfare units to be fitted to the Barrier Wagon fleet. These units are to be interchangeable with the current storeroom containers. The conversion of Sleeper Carrier Wagons into Barrier Wagons is also required. Desired outcomes and requirements: Network Rail are looking for a supplier to convert eight Sleeper Carrier Wagons into Barrier Wagons. The desired outcomes for design and build of welfare facility modules include but not limited to the provision of the following: — toilet both male (including urinal) and female, — hand washing facilities, — drying facility for clothes and boots, — office space, — basic kitchen facilities, — access and egress from a YSA(B) wagon, — positive air pressure within the facility to prevent dust entering as far as is reasonably practicable, — self-contained with regards to power/water/waste removal (storage). Network Rail would like to gather original ideas from the market as well as best practice suggestions for creative innovations to provide these modules. Network Rail may choose to invite interested parties to attend supplier workshops to discuss what options are available in the market and how these can provide best value and efficient services for Network Rail.
