Tender description

Sheen Mount Primary School wishes to tender a lunchtime school meals catering contract, commencing 3.9.2018, for 3 years duration with the option for the school to extend the term by a further 2 years. The school's key objectives of the competitive tender process are value for money, quality of food offering and company approach. The governing body is not obliged to accept the lowest price. Sheen Mount Primary School is a thriving school with 565 pupils on its current roll. This will rise to 600 in September 2018. An expansion in 2015 saw the school grow from a two-form entry to a permanent three-form entry school and, when full in 2019, will have 630 pupils. During the expansion works the kitchen and servery were upgraded to meet the demands of the busy lunch service required for the children. There are currently 75 staff employed at the school, excluding the kitchen staff employed under the current catering contract. The School’s objective in this procurement is to secure an appealing lunch service to children and staff which achieves a high take up at a realistic cost, and which provides: — high quality meals, cooked on site throughout the contract term, — seasonal menus that comply with 2014 Requirements for School Food regulations, Food Information for Consumers Regulation (EU FIC) and the Food For Life Partnership Silver Standards, — fully trained and motivated staff operating in a well run and managed kitchen that meets all current legislation, — the promotion of healthy eating in School, and — fresh food ingredients, which are produced using sustainable methods or ethically traded. The School wants to maintain the Food for Life Partnership Silver Standard Award and work towards achieving the Gold standard Standard Award by the end of third year of the contract.
