Motorway Operations & Control Centre (MOCC) Expansion

Tender description

Works associated with the construction of a 270 square metres (approx.) extension to the existing Dublin Tunnel Control Building. The expansion will house the Motorway Operations and Control Centre (MOCC). The works scope will include building works along with equipment installation and the fit out of the control room, offices and associated facilities. The extensive IT installation will include a large Videowall. The existing building, which operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, must be kept operational at all times during the works. The scope of the works will also include,but is not limited to, the following works: • Modifications to the existing site landscaping; • Modifications to existing car parking arrangements; • Relocation of existing security gates. The MOCC expansion is being carried out as one key element of a larger TII objective to enhance motorway operations in Ireland, with a focus on the M50. The overarching Enhancing Motorway Operations Services (EMOS) project will also involve a number of other contracts, which are closely related to the MOCC expansion. These include (i) the M50 Traffic Flow Optimisation (MTFO), part of which involves the deployment of additional Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) equipment and associated civil/structural works on a large section of the M50 motorway, (ii) development of the functionality of the ITS installation. As such, the successful Contractor will be required to liaise with other parties as necessary to ensure the efficient coordination of elements of the works which will be impacted by other related contracts.
