Tender description

NHS Bath and North East Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group (BaNES CCG) commissioned a Community Eye Service for service users registered with a BaNES GP. The key aim of this service is to deliver high quality eye care in the community, supplementing and complementing the care delivered in acute hospital settings. The service will deliver services close to patient homes via locations across the BaNES area. The contract will be for an initial term of 7 years from 3.12.2018, with a possible extension of any period (or periods) up to a further 3 years, as defined at the discretion of the Commissioner. The value of the initial contract term of 7 years will be 1 568 743,05 GBP excluding VAT. The contract value including the optional extension period will be £2,241,060 excluding VAT. This procurement has been carried out by NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit (SCW) on behalf of the Commissioners. The scope and features of the service will include: — accessible locations throughout the BaNES area, — capacity and capability to effectively triage all referrals to the community eye service, — appropriate assessment, provision of treatment and onward referral, where clinically indicated, — the development of evidence based protocols and patient pathways for patients with ophthalmological conditions which clearly demonstrate good outcomes for patients, operate in conjunction with other relevant professionals and reduce unwarranted variation, — where relevant, referral to the appropriate professional for on-going management of their condition/treatment, in line with CCG policies and guidelines and the agreed patient pathway, — support for collaborative working between primary care and secondary care. The value of the initial contract term of 7 years will be 1 568 743,05 GBP excluding VAT. The contract value including the optional extension period will be 2 241 060 GBP excluding VAT.
