Tender description

The University of Birmingham is looking to procure Lapsafe devices. Currently the devices integrate with the University's library management system (Alma) including customisation into the LapSafe and application services. LapSafe have also created and deployed a bespoke management portal for UoB. Currently the devices are deployed to the University main library, Barnes Library and University's Dubai campus. The University is looking to replace the current Lapsafe devices which has cost in the region of 182 000,00 GBP. The University of Birmingham is looking to procure Lapsafe devices. Alternative arrangements would require consultation with other suppliers to ensure they can create the customisation's in conjunction with application services to perform similarly to the current system. Alternative arrangements would require significant investment and time on behalf of the University of Birmingham which would outweigh the initial investment costs of 182 000,00 GBP. The current loan of laptops averages around 2 500 loans per month. The service is now an integral part of the student experience and removing it could have an impact on the universities national student survey scores.
