Tender description
The University currently uses pFACT as a costing tool for preparing costings and generating income templates for research funders. The costing tool has been in place since 2008. The current version of pFACT is an old one and in September 2013 the supplier, announced “end of life” for all versions of the product as of 30.9.2015. The research costing tool project has been initiated to procure and implement a new costing tool to replace pFACT, for use by all faculties and schools. Research costing tool aims: — enable a consistent approach to costing of externally funded research projects across the University, — ensure the creation of project costings that are compliant with both funder regulations and internal policy, — support the costing of large-scale, multi-centre projects, — improve efficiency and effectiveness by enabling widening access to the costing tool, across both academic, Admin staff and minimise the administrative burden to all staff involved in costing, — improve management information on research costing through report generation, — support improved cost recovery on research projects, — improve efficiency and reduce administration costs through the development of a system interface with existing Research Awards system and thus aligning with our aim to maximise efficiency of internal Data exchange, — provide a platform for a secured access to the costing tool.
