The EA privately let a number of properties, including Goring and Marsh Lock Houses. In order to continue to let these properties after March 2019, an upgrade to the external insulation is necessary. A contractor is required to provide this thermal upgrade to each of the properties; in addition works include replacement windows at Marsh Lock and ad hoc roof repairs as required. Of the utmost importance is the requirement to maintain the character of the building. This includes the retaining of all external decorative features to match existing. The contractor will demonstrate suitable levels of skill in order to achieve this. The EA Residential Estates team want to undertake this work in order to improve the EPC grade which is currently G. As a landlord, the EA cannot legally continue to let the property after March 2019 if improvements have not been undertaken to provide adequate living conditions to the tenants. Work will be done near water, therefore there is a small potential for mixed render to enter water.
