Tender description

The Fruitmarket Gallery (FMG) intends to appoint an architect-led multidisciplinary design team to refurbish the existing venue and extend into the neighbouring warehouse building. The FMG are seeking to engage an architect-led multi-disciplinary design team to work with them and deliver their vision for the project. Project objectives: 1) To bring the building adjacent to The Fruitmarket Gallery into active cultural use, creating a new opportunity for artists and audiences, with a space that suits the way artists work now — at scale, and with an agenda for artist-led installation, performance, cross artform collaboration and programming in partnership; 2) To renovate the current Fruitmarket Gallery building, ensuring it is accessible and fit for the purpose of showing the very best 20th and 21st century visual art; 3) To maintain our priority focus on the organisation’s key strengths — programming and audience engagement, organisational agility.
