Tender description
Coventry City Council has an existing MRF contract for the pre-treatment/pre-sort and reuse/sale of the recyclate materials via a third party MRF facility which is due to expire in September 2019. This contract was established in 2009 and is structured under 2 separate lots, namely: (i) MRF processing; and (ii) bulking and haulage. We currently collect household commingled waste from the kerbside. The intention is to procure an short term interim solution during the current period of uncertainty in the market whilst the Council formulates a longer term solution. Accordingly, we currently anticipate a 2 year +1 year +1 year +1 year contract term (with the option to extend at the Council’s discretion). You are invited to a supplier industry day to discuss our current plans with the market and to understand current market conditions more clearly. Coventry City Council currently collect commingled waste from the kerbside and are looking for a supplier who can receive this waste, process it and re-use/procure its sale (whether within the UK or abroad). We currently collect approximately 24 000 tonnes per annum of household waste [we would anticipate this level of tonnage to remain relatively constant over the anticipated term of the contract]. Operationally, if the site which is chosen to undertake our waste recycling solution is not within or close to the Coventry boundary, we will require a bulking facility within or close to the Coventry boundary and onwards haulage from such bulking facility to the nominated waste recycling site.
