Tender description
Gateshead, North Tyneside and Newcastle Councils are currently subject to a legal direction from the UK Government to produce a Feasibility Study which will identify the preferred option to achieve compliance with legal limits for Nitrogen Dioxide in the shortest possible time. The three authorities are working together to produce a joint Air Quality Feasibility Study and have submitted a Strategic Outline Case to Government and are continuing to develop their Outline Business Case and Preferred Option. As part of this study, the Tyneside Authorities are required to consider the implementation and operation of a charging clean air zone. Other authorities in the UK, including Leeds and Birmingham, have already consulted on similar schemes and suppliers may wish to examine the available information on these schemes. Timescales: If a charging Clean Air Zone is required in Tyneside, it is anticipated that relevant tenders will be awarded by the end of August 2019. These tenders will be used to support the implementation and operation of a charging Clean Air Zone. Any such zone would need to be in place by 1st January 2021. Supplier Engagement Objectives: Representatives of the Study will provide a short presentation on the development of the Study and the requirements to which they are subject. Representatives will then be available to answer questions from suppliers. We are seeking feedback from suppliers during the sessions, on a one-on-one basis, regarding how they consider the delivery of charging Clean Air Zone should be best bundled and designed to deliver the work in the shortest possible time. Attendance Confirmation: Sessions will take place between the 12th and 16th November to discuss the future requirements. If you wish to book a session, please contact Hannah Graham at hannah.graham@newcastle.gov.uk with your 1st, 2nd and 3rd date and time choices. The sessions will be no longer than 1.5 hours. Keywords: Engagement, Market
