Tender description

Gaining access to quality information, advice and support can be a challenge for parents, children and young people who may not be familiar with the law or the statutory guidance. North East Lincolnshire Council is commissioning a provider to fulfil the Local Authority’s duties to provide a North East Lincolnshire Special Educational Needs and Disability Independent Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS) as required by the Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Code of Practice 0-25 years. The new provider will provide quality information, advice and support to children and young people with Special Educational Needs or parents of children with SEN. The Provider will fulfil the Local Authority’s duties and provide a SENDIASS in accordance with the Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Code of Practice. Information and advice about matters relating to special educational needs or disabilities, including matters relating to health and social care will be given. This must include information, advice and support on the take-up and management of Personal Budgets. In addition, in carrying out the Local Authority’s duties under Part 3 of the Children and Families Act 2014, the Provider acting on the Local Authority’s behalf must have regard to the importance of providing children, young people and their parents with the information and support necessary to participate in decisions.
