Tender description

The objective of this procurement is to establish a series of lots that offers the GMC access to a pool of professional coaches for a variety of coaching needs. We have split this tender into 4 lots: A. Coaching of senior executives and managers B. Team and group coaching C. Delivery of training programmes D. Supervision of existing qualified GMC coaches We currently offer coaching with external providers to our senior management team. This includes heads of section up to chief executive level for short-term guidance and support (approximately four to six sessions at monthly intervals) to help them to enhance their performance. We plan to extend this support to our management teams to encourage embedding of a coaching culture within their own teams and ongoing personal development. Periodically the GMC offer team coaching to those teams who require transformational support. The aim of this activity is to: — develop a climate of psychological safety, conducive to collective learning, — open dialogue in relation to concerns and fears and to work with constructive, empathetic challenge, — help the team to become more aware of the patterns, behaviours and processes that are not serving them well, — develop the team’s relationships with each other and internal/external stakeholders, — focus on the team’s purpose, joint endeavour, business performance and collective results, — manage conflict so that it becomes a driver of performance, rather than a barrier, — explore the team culture and help it evolve in line with changing environment, while still enabling everyone to retain their personal authenticity, — become more resilient to setbacks, — adjust its temporal orientation (achieving a better balance between attention to the past, present, near future and long-term future). Team coaching usually includes initial diagnostic consultation and report, one-to-one meetings with individuals and their reports, residential intervention activity with the whole team, action plan and follow up. As part of our EDP strategy we are keen to develop a pool of qualified in-house coaching champions who will aid the embedding of a coaching culture across the GMC and deliver coaching at a local level within their own directorates. In the longer term, we would also like to develop a pool of in-house master coaches to provide on-going supervision and CPD to the coaching champions. To facilitate this we require providers who are approved to deliver industry-recognised qualifications in coaching and mentoring, executive coaching and coaching supervision. Currently we employ a group of Learning and Organisational Development (L&OD) professionals and executive colleagues who are ILM level 5 and 7 qualified coaches with accreditation in a number of psychometrics and feedback tools including EQi 2.0, MBTI, BELBIN, 360 insight and Watson Glaser. In order to maintain their CPD and support the ongoing development of their coaching expertise we require ad-hoc coaching supervision and consultancy.
