Tender description

The ESS is one of the world’s largest scientific and the technology infrastructure projects being constructed today, currently under construction to the north-east of Lund (Sweden). It will include a waste processing plant known as the active cells. The active cells will size reduce (predominantly by cutting), store and enable subsequent shipping of radioactive material that will be produced as a bi-product of ESS operations. Human access to the active cells will be highly restricted; a substantial amount of operations and maintenance must be undertaken remotely using robotic handling and size reduction items. The contractor shall design manufacture deliver install and commission (including all required testing, verification, and documentation) the following: — active cells shaft cutting station, — active cells shaft cutting station drives and low-level control systems, — active cells shaft cutting station specialist maintenance tooling and lifting adaptors.
