Tender description
In 2013 UU let five Frameworks under the ICT Led Business Transformation Frameworks, which were split into 5 Lots for the following scopes of services successful suppliers: — Lot 1 Complex projects > 1m GBP, — Lot 2 Simple projects (< 1m GBP), — Lot 3 Client Side Advice, — Lot 4 Hardware, — Lot 5 Software. The frameworks have been extensively used, as we approach the start of the new AMP (AMP7) in 2020 and to reflect significant changes to the market since the current frameworks were let, United Utilities are looking to reach out to market to support the continued development of our IT landscape, to build on the work delivered in AMP6 and looking to the developments in the market and the UK water Industry, United Utilities are currently proposing to tender the following Lots: — Lot A Complex Multi Technology IT Services, — Lot B Specialist Technology Services, — Lot C IT Advice and Resource Augmentation Services, — Lot D Hardware & Software Services, — Lot E Cloud Support Services. The implementation of these new Lots is initially planned to be completed before the start of the next AMP, so that we are well positioned to deliver upon the plans recently presented to the regulator, however the approach to Lot B is one which will see a continual development of the scope and where United Utilities intended to add additional work packages at regular intervals where the demand requires it. United Utilities proposed business is summarised below but more details can be found on our website plan can be found on our website at: https://www.unitedutilities.com/corporate/about-us/our-future-plans/north-west-matters/ The new frameworks will support us in developing the our system thinking capability which will deliver significant future benefits for customers, across many areas of service, and this will be underpinned by IT delivery. For example, the advancements in both proactive and reactive customer responses, with machine analytics, machine learning and robotics will deliver quicker, better and cheaper responses to customer service disruption. This will allow us to be not only more resilient to minimise events and avoid disruption but it will also improve our capability in response and recovery. Systems thinking recognises that our business is not a collection of independent components which deliver discrete services to customers. Instead, the business is managed and operated as a single end-to-end system, whereby the dependencies and interactions between its sub-components, both internal and external, are better understood and used to unlock the long-term opportunities for step change in benefits for customers. The application of disruptive technologies and digital thinking will help us develop this vision. United Utilities will commence this process later this year by launching the process for Complex Multi Technology IT Services contracts (Lot A). UU envisages these contracts being used to support IT Maintenance and Support Services as well as project services where multiple technologies are impacted. The IT services procured under these contracts are expected to cover a broad range of IT technology disciplines and capabilities including but not limited to product selection, configuration, and implementation of COTS and bespoke products as well as system integration, middleware, and associated O/S, desktop and hardware services.
