GMIT E Thermal Project Renovation Works 2018: This project involves conversion of an existing research space from its previous function to one that enables thermal performance testing to be conducted. The existing research space consists of two 40-foot Steel Containers, aligned side-by-side, and connected by two doorways. This new research environment will expose artefacts to a range of air conditions (temperature and humidity) simulating both internal and external environments. Works involved are as follows; • Removal and disposal of all material in and around the facility (including materials already stripped out); • Construct 2 new stud walls; • Supply & Install new internal insulation / dry lining; • Supply & Install new flat roof material; • Electrical fit out (power & lighting); Supply & Install 2 new thermal chamber envelops (cold rooms); • Refrigeration works; • Decoration. This project is co-funded by Enterprise Ireland and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under Ireland’s European Structural and Investment Funds Programmes 2014-2020. Contract Awarded 24.10.2018 to: John Higgins Building Contractor Ltd. Two valid tenders were received.
