Tender description

Local Authorities have a duty under S17 of the Children Act 1989 and the Breaks for Carers Act 2011 to provide play opportunities for Children in Need and Disabled Children. In line with that requirement, the council will be looking to tender for the Community Based Play Provision and Specialist Play Provision for children and young people with disabilities and non-disabled children aged 4-12 years old. In line with that requirement, the council will be looking to tender for the Community Based Play Provision and Specialist Play Provision for children and young people with disabilities and non-disabled children aged 4-12 years old. The Community Based Provision consists of after school clubs and play schemes. The Specialised Play Provision consists of after school clubs, Saturday clubs and holiday play schemes for children with complex needs. Play schemes will enable children’s social, emotional and physical development. The service will provide value for money and good quality play environments. Prospective providers are expected to demonstrate a strong track record of delivering play provisions. The benefits expected for play provision to offer: learning that enhances their knowledge and understanding and stimulates their creativity and capacity to learn; greater independence, in terms of enhanced self-esteem and capacity to exercise choice and control;better judgement, in terms of exploring and testing boundaries and of taking and managing risks; enhanced social development, in terms of skills in social interaction and the fostering of respect for others; and enhanced physical development, in terms of co-ordination, control and regular exercise. Lot One – Community based play provision Camden’s play provision operates from nine community-based hubs linked to local primary schools. After school clubs operate for 39 weeks term time, Mon-Fri from 3:30-6:00. Play schemes operate for eleven weeks a year covering all school holidays except Christmas, and opening hours are 8:00-6:00.Suppliers interested in this opportunity are invited to attend one of the 2 supplier days held on Tuesday 13.11.2018 10:00am-1:00pm for the Community Based Provision and Thursday 22.11.2018 9:00am-12:00pm for the Specialist Play Provision.
