Tender description
Halton Borough Council’s Open Spaces Division is responsible for over 950 hectares of publicly owned parks and open space. Open Space Services are responsible for the development, maintenance and promotion of the Borough’s green assets and infrastructure. The service procures a range of landscape and related services for both new capital works, including landscape/minor civil engineering projects and for ongoing management services, such as water course/drainage management. The DPS will be divided into appropriate Lots of work as listed below: Lot 1 - Landscape Soft works, trees and shrub planting, including forestry planting Currently the scope of works include: The supply and planting of a range of different types of plant material, from large scale structure planting to individual trees and ornamental planting in formal gardens and parks. Lot 1 will be divided in to two value bands: Band A – Below £250,000 Band B – Above £250,000 Lot 2 - Hard works including drainage, surfacing, special surfaces, walling and fencing Currently the score of works include: Construction of new and the refurbishment of existing playgrounds. General park and open space improvement works; including new/resurfacing of paths, railings, gates, walls and installation of street furniture and lighting. Improvements to lakes and ponds including relining works, installation of platforms, walkways and edge reinstatement. The laying of safety surfaces and floor paint/marking systems for sports and school grounds. Lot 2 will be divided in to two value bands: Band A – Below £250,000 Band B – Above £250,000 Lot 3 - Earthworks and work to contaminated land Currently the scope of works include: Works to undertake earthworks and regrading of sites including embankments, conversion of former industrial sites to open space/parks end uses. Including completion of associated soft landscape works and planting. Lot 3 will be divided in to two value bands: Band A – Below £250,000 Band B – Above £250,000 Lot 4 - Installation of street furniture, specialist play and sports equipment Currently the scope of works include: Minor works packages to replace and install new play equipment and sports facilities such as; multi-use games courts and games areas. Including completion of associated landscape works. Lot 4 will be divided in to two value bands: Band A – Below £250,000 Band B – Above £250,000 Lot 5 - Specialist drainage works and sports pitch improvements Currently the scope of works include: Improvements to existing grass and synthetic type sports fields, including renewal and installation of land drainage/surface water drainage systems. Lot 5 will be divided in to two value bands: Band A – Below £250,000 Band B – Above £250,000 Lot 6 - Aftercare and establishment management Currently the scope of works include: Comprises of establishment maintenance of existing soft landscape areas or newly completed planting schemes prior to handover, ranging from forestry/structure planting to ornamental planting. Lot 6 will be divided in to two value bands: Band A – Below £250,000 Band B – Above £250,000 Lot 7 - Arboricultural works Currently the scope of works include: All tree maintenance works such as felling and stump removal, including crown thinning and reduction to BS3998 or equivalent using mechanical lifts and aerial climbing techniques. Including working close to highways. Lot 7 will be divided in to two value bands: Band A – Below £250,000 Band B – Above £250,000 Lot 8 – The management of water courses, desilting and aquatic weed control Currently the scope of works include: Regular management works to ensure proper functioning of streams, water courses and ponds including SuDS drainage systems; and including the management and control of aquatic vegetation and engineered apparatus such as hydro-brakes, penstocks and culvert flaps. Lot 9 – External Signage Supply, or supply and install of external signage, plinths or mounts to BS 559:2009 or equivalent. Keywords: landscape
