MARKET ENGAGEMENT UPDATE - Substance Misuse 2020

Wakefield Council’s Public Health Commissioning for Prevention Team is preparing to develop the service specification for the contract for a substance misuse service which will commence on 1 April 2020 (‘Substance’ refers to all illicit drugs, alcohol, new psychoactive substances (legal highs), image and performance enhancing drugs (IPED’s) and prescribed and over the counter medications). As part of this preparation, commissioners engaged with a number of potential providers in addition to the Councils incumbent service providers of substance misuse services in order to understand market capability which will assist commissioners to develop the service specification. Engagement sessions took place on 28 September & 1 October 2018 AGENDA FOR THE SESSIONS: • CONTRACT DURATION; length of contract, period for mobilisation • CONTRACT STRUCTURE; lead provider model or separate lots • SERVICE STRUCTURE; - All age service or separate services for Children/Young People and Adults - Thoughts on delivery of a family centric service - Separate services for Opioids, Non-Opioids and Alcohol • SOCIAL OUTCOMES; - Return to /start employment, education or training - Social impact – children returned from care, housing - Improved physical, mental and health care - Engagement with other services • SERVICE FOCUS; prevention and harm reduction, treatment, recovery or post treatment social support The key themes from the sessions has been summarised in the attachment that is available for interested parties to download the attachments section.
