The University of Sussex is undertaking a major transformation of its approach to digital education with a view to delivering the highest quality experience for all of our students. This has included the implementation of a new online study platform, Canvas, the launch of a new suite of online distance learning courses and a major project to implement a cutting-edge student records system. We now seek to build on these foundations and undertake a scoping exercise designed to understand the potential of new and innovative ways of carrying out digital assessments and examinations (including essay-based examinations). We are particularly interested in solutions which offer the ability to assess securely and in real-time a variety of knowledge and skills, and which can provide instant, targeted feedback to students. Our aim is to understand the market and the solutions available in order to influence and determine our next steps. The exercise does not commit the university to carry out a formal procurement process. This is an opportunity for interested providers to share impartial information on the capability of their solution with respect to the aim of this project. This stage of the process will consist of a brief presentation and open discussion with members of University community. The University therefore wishes to invite potential suppliers to an information sharing session to be held at the university on the 29.11.2018 or 30.11.2018.
