Tender description
Design and installation of a steel pile weir with floating eel pass at Natural England’s Revitt’s Strip, Crowle Moor (part of Thorne Moors SAC), Crowle in North Lincolnshire. Works to be undertaken to increase the water levels within the SAC in order to help in the restoration of this European rare habit lowland raised mire, which is part of the Conservation Actions as part of the LIFE+ Project That’s’ Life (LIFE13/NAT/UK000451). Management of the water level lying in each of these compartments is key to how quickly and well the plants re-establish but is being hindered by excessive water sitting in some compartments – wave action and depth of water are affecting the process of re-growth. Revitt's Strip dam forms an important component of the regeneration of the Crowle Moors, part of the SAC. The weir at Revitt’s Strip forms an integral part of the regeneration of this part of Crowle Moors and it is essential that the dam does not fail and continues to hold water to allow the continued regeneration of the lowland raised mire. All excess material and old weir to be removed from site and disposed of or recycled. The designers will use the existing topographical drawing and ground investigation data and provide any additional data requirements. The steel dam should be set at the same height as the existing failing dam and provide a water tight seal on the existing ditch. The dam should incorporate a floating eel pass. ** Mandatory Site Visits Required ** ** To be scheduled between 15/10/2018 – 02/11/18 with David.Hargreaves@naturalengland.org.uk **
