Summary of the work Translating user requirements into designs. Undertaking minor developments. Issue resolution. Managing Git repositories and Jenkins. Advising on cost and viability of change requests. Managing and maintaining server environments. Monitoring and reporting of performance. Produce and maintain build and DR documentation. Support developers setting up and running development environments. Releasing software. Specialist role Developer Expected Contract Length 18 months Latest start date Monday 8 October 2018 Maximum Day Rate £500 Who Speclialist Work With UKRI/UKRI Council website system owners What Specialists Work On UKRI website and UKRI Council websites Skills & Experience • Please demonstrate how you will apply your skills and expertise to: • The Mura Content Management System (version 6.2 onwards) - 14 points • The use of ColdFusion and Lucee - 14 points • Elasticsearch, including management, configuration and development - 10 points • The use of Jenkins (or equivalent tools for Continuous Integration) - 7 points • Web design technologies (e.g. CSS, HTML5, and JavaScript) and the use of JavaScript libraries and frameworks such as jQuery, jQuery UI, Bootstrap, Angular and Grunt - 7 points • Good development, deployment and support practices including testing and version control, and working with source control repositories especially Git, GitHub and Git submodules - 7 points • API provision and consumption using REST, SOAP and OAuth - 7 points • Microsoft SQL Server (or equivalent) development and Couchbase as a high performance caching engine - 7 points • Enterprise System Architecture and Windows Server management - 7 points • Managing conflicting and competing priorities and delivering results within set timeframes - 7 points • Demonstrate strong analytical skills and interpersonal communication at all levels - 7 points Nice to Haves Demonstrate how you will apply your skills and expertise in Amazon Web Services (or equivalent Cloud based services) including Compute Storage and networking components - 6 points Work Location Polaris House, North Star Avenue, Swindon, SN2 1FF Working Arrangments Remote working with onsite days whenever required. Main support hours between 09:00 to 17:00 weekdays with a facility to resolve emergency issues out of normal working hours. A minimum of 2.5 working days spanning the working week but possibly increasing to 4 days. The specialist will be required to develop the UKRI and UKRI Council websites as per the published requirements. Please refer to the Summary of Work for detail of tasks that the specialist will be working on. 6. How often is it likely that the specialist will be required to visit site? Visits to the Swindon site are likely to average less than one per month.
