Tender description
In 2017, following a procurement process, the University of Birmingham purchased a MEG scanner and a temporary building to house that scanner from Elekta. The scanner is intended to be installed in a dedicated space in the Centre for Human Brain Health, a new building currently under construction on the University campus. The MEG scanner is a highly specialised item of research equipment and, as such, there are no other companies who have the capability to relocate this item of equipment without voiding the warranty. The MEG scanner relies on close integration with the mechanical and electrical services in the building. So Elekta Oy/MEGIN have been working closely with the design team and the main contractor, Galliford Try, to ensure that the space in the new building is ready. The main contract programme has been developed to allow time for the integration of the scanner into the building. This contract is due to complete on 28.1.2019. Elekta Oy/MEGIN are required to work in conjunction with the main contractor Galliford Try for relocation and to complete the relocation before Galliford Try have left site, any delay to this will necessitate Galliford Try re-attending the site and incur additional costs to the University. This work will require the disassembly of the MEG Scanner, it's transportation and then reassembly in the new building. For the reasons given above Elekta Oy/MEGIN are the only company who are able to relocate the MEG scanner.
