Global navigation and positioning systems (GPS or equivalent)

Tender description

Investigation into the provision of alternative navigation systems that do not rely upon the space-based Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS)sources. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is looking to engage with industry to explore potential Alternative Navigation Systems (Alt.Nav) to deliver a range of appropriate alternative data sources for the provision of Position, Navigation or Timing (PNT) information to platform navigation systems that do not rely upon space-based Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). GNSS sources are increasingly vulnerable to deception and denial threats (further detail on this can be found in the Blackett Review). The Alt.Nav. Systems are perceived as operating to augment GNSS signals and/or as an alternative to them during periods of either partial or complete service denial of GNSS. Interested parties are invited to express an interest in discussing their potential solutions.
