2.2 Aneurin Bevan University Hospital (ABUHB) are seeking to establish a direct supply of a wide range of catering consumables, covering items such as single-use cutlery, tableware, cups and food packaging. ABUHB will require some of all products to be environmentally sustainable (biodegradable/compostable) and to include premium and standard product ranges to reflect changes in consumer demand. Through this procurement, the health board is seeking to stimulate innovation in the bio-based products sector by requiring that the catering consumables purchased be made of bio-based materials. The market for bio-based products is increasing which is why the health board would like to procure products that are sustainable and bio-based. Bio-based means that biomass feedstocks, and not fossil sources, are used to produce bio-based products they offer. Please note that volumes stated are estimates only and in no way a guarantee of order volumes throughout the duration of the contract.
