Summary of the work The Technical Author’s role is required to create technical documentation for a deployed capability. The Tech Author will report to and will be directed, on a daily basis by the Project Manager for the creation, maintenance and configuration control of deployed technical documentation. Specialist role Content designer Expected Contract Length 22 weeks (up until 31st March 2019) with a 5 week unfunded option. Latest start date Thursday 1 November 2018 Maximum Day Rate £400 per day worked (8 hours). Anticipated travel to MOD Abbey Wood at least 2 days per month to be included within this rate. Who Speclialist Work With You will be a key member of the Integrated Logistics Support Team, overseeing the integration of the project. You will work with the delivery organisation, DE&S, on a daily basis. What Specialists Work On This is a generalist post for the generation of technical documentation as directed by the Delivery Manager in the following areas (not exhaustive): • System Operating Instructions in native formats. • System Operating Procedures in native formats. • High Level Design. • Low Level Design. • Build Guides & Operating Guides. • Factory and System Acceptance Testing (FAT & SAT) Plans. • Operational Readiness Evaluation (ORE) input documents. • Knowledge Articles and Work Instructions (Operating and Maintenance, Repair and Diagnosis). • Network Architecture input documents associated with the operation of Deployed Platforms. • Patching Plan. • Backup and recovery procedures. Skills & Experience • Have Experience of maintaining mechanical/electrical systems. • Prevention of issues found by users in the field, developing suitable engineering based responses to issues within technical equipment support solutions. • Practical knowledge of developing Work/Knowledge Instructions for Deployable IT • Demonstrable experience of collating information for AESP production, attention to detail essential to help provide high standard documents including AESP CAT 201, 211, 412, 522, 601, 711 & 741. • Experience of Reliability & Maintainability modelling. • Production of supportability documentation in line with SEOC guidance and the DLF (JSP 886), but not limited to: • Recognised ILS qualification • Self Starter-Finisher with a methodical approach to problem-solving • Capable of delivering quality output to tight deadlines across multiple tasking lines • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to develop and maintain positive working relationships with Stakeholders & Colleagues. Nice to Haves • Proven track record in the delivery of Client-centric support solutions & services, Managing &/or Leading ILS Projects, including ILS Strategy development and implementation of Plans; • Practical knowledge of SSDT and Support Maturity Levels (SML) Software Support • Practical application of ILS in an ITIL managed service environment • Sound knowledge of DE&S iLog processes. • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities with strong multi-tasking and organizational skills. • Knowledgeable of transition, upgrades, refresh projects in an Agile environment. Work Location Hereford Working Arrangments 40 hrs (8hrs Mon - Fri). This role will be based at the West Midlands site with anticipated travel to MOD Abbey Wood at least 2 times per Month to attend meetings with the Delivery Team. No expenses are payable as this travel is expected to be inclusive within the daily rate. Security Clearance DV required on day 1 of the appointment due to the sensitivity of the role. There is no incumbent, this is a requirement for additional resource. 2. For this role is any clearance required? MOD DV Clearance required on day 1 of the role. 3. I have a candidate available whose DV & SC clearance is valid until [redacted] however lapsed in [redacted] – to reinstate this the SC clearance would be fine however the DV clearance may take approx. 2 months – is this something the client can consider? Due to the imminent start date, MOD DV Clearance is required on day 1 of the role to ensure that the candidate can work on all of their set tasks.
