Tender description
Please accept this as notification of pre-procurement engagement event. Oxfordshire County Council provides a service to secondary schools in the form of Public Health education sessions to develop protective behaviours in children in relation to risks which are more likely to be taken during adolescence (drug and alcohol consumption in particular, but also relevant to unsafe sex, anti-social behaviour, risky and unsafe online behaviour). It is linked with the Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) curriculum and is offered free of charge to schools. The service is currently provided through an external contract, as a stand-alone service and has run since January 2014. It has delivered sessions in all mainstream secondary schools and has trained staff in some of the special schools in Oxfordshire. They also provide schools with access to a website of resources related to the provision of PSHE and this is used very well. While it is commissioned by the Drug and Alcohol team in PH, the approach is relevant across many PH areas, including smoking, risky sexual behaviour, well-being and the development of resilience. The service works in close partnership with schools, School Health Nurses, the Children and Young People’s Substance Misuse service, the Community Safety Practitioner as well as partnerships such as Safer Communities in Banbury (SCIB) and other third sector partners. The current contract as mentioned above, is coming to the end of its natural term, therefore, the authority needs to re-commission a new service. Over the next few weeks we will be preparing documents for the forthcoming tender (which will be advertised separately) and we are giving providers the opportunity to attend a short briefing which will give you the opportunity to ask any questions, and to get an understanding of the process which will be followed. This engagement is not part of a formal tender exercise. The new tender will be advertised on the ProContract Proactis portal https://procontract.due-north.com/Register separately. PLEASE RETURN THE REGISTRATION DOCUMENT ATTACHED. Keywords: PSHE, behaviour, anti-social, school, education, drug alcohol
