Tender description
Aberdeenshire Council and Aberdeen City Council are the constituent authorities involved in the Aberdeen City Region Deal. The authorities will seek to establish a multi supplier framework to facilitate the procurement of different types of Gigabit capable connectivity circuits from the market. Other parties to the framework include NHS Grampian. The intention is for SWAN and other appointed service providers, to continue delivering managed services, but to use this framework to procure new or replacement connectivity circuits to provide them with enhanced and future-proofed connectivity at key sites. Aberdeenshire Council and Aberdeen City Council are the constituent authorities involved in the Aberdeen City Region Deal. The authorities to seek to establish a multi supplier framework to facilitate the procurement of different types of Gigabit capable connectivity circuits from the market. Other parties to the framework include NHS Grampian. Currently public sector bodies in the region consume connectivity services in one of 2 ways: (1) Through Scottish Wide Area Network (SWAN) who in turn source the most cost effective and available circuits from the market; (2) Through direct contracts with telecommunications service providers. The intention is for SWAN and other appointed service providers, to continue delivering managed services, but to use this framework to procure new or replacement connectivity circuits to provide them with enhanced and future-proofed connectivity at key sites. Stakeholders have different requirements and therefore this procurement will offer 2 distinct service lots as follows: One lot will allow authorities to aggregate a large number of sites and commit spend over a long term (typically 20 years) to secure the deployment and use of future proofed connectivity circuits. The other lot will allow the procurement of ad-hoc gigabit capable managed circuits as commonly procured over standard Wide Area Network (WAN) contract arrangements. Aberdeen City Region partners invite suitably capable suppliers to a market engagement event to take place on 30.10.2018 in Aberdeenshire Council Headquarters, Woodhill House, Westburn Road, Aberdeen, AB16 5GB. The partners would like to take this opportunity to present their intended approach to the market and gather feedback from suppliers in advance of the procurement going live. For clarity, this is not a call for competition
