Construction work for university buildings

Brunel University London (BUL) is seeking to procure a principal contractor for the construction of a new Learning and Teaching Centre (LTC). The LTC will be a 7 storey building that will provide various sizes of teaching rooms for team based learning at BUL. The building will also include open plan spaces and group study rooms at each level of the building. The purpose of this Prior Information Notice (PIN) is to alert interested parties and invite potential suppliers to market testing events. All the information provided in this PIN is BUL’s current thinking and is subject to change following the soft market testing and internal consideration and/or approvals. The purpose of this PIN is to engage with the market to obtain feedback on the way in which the University is intending to structure its procurement of the principal contractor. Please note that participation in this soft market testing exercise is encouraged but not responding to this PIN will not be preclude your organisation from taking part in any resulting procurement process. BUL is not obliged to commence any procurement process as a result of this PIN and/or soft market testing exercise. BUL is not liable for any costs and/or losses of any market operator in relation to the PIN or the consequent procurement that is commenced. This PIN does not formally signify the beginning of any procurement and does not constitute a commitment by BUL to undertake any procurement exercise. BUL intends to publish a separate contract notice once the technical design information has been agreed. BUL intends to use a Restricted Procedure with a single stage tender. The estimated value of the contract is currently 26 000 000 GBP — 40 000 000 GBP but this is subject to change depending on factors including the progress of the design and the outcome of this soft market testing exercise. This PIN provides organisations with the opportunity to learn more about the developed design and visit the project site on one of two designated supplier days, which will be on 23rd and 24.10.2018. During the supplier days, organisations will receive the same briefing and will be invited to complete a written soft market testing questionnaire regarding the upcoming procurement, the contract, delivery of the works etc. In order to attend one of the supplier day sessions, you must register your interest via the University’s portal https://in-tendhost.co.uk/bruneluniversity/aspx/Tenders/Current by 18.10.2018. If you are only able to attend one of the two dates available, please make this clear when you express your interest via the portal. Once you have registered your interest, you will be contacted via the portal and allocated a session to attend on one of the supplier days. A time to attend and the venue details will also be confirmed. Please note that it will not be possible to provide any alternative supplier day dates. If you are not able to attend of the 2 supplier dates, this will not preclude your involvement in the procurement process once a contract notice is published.
