Tender description

PHE has award a contract to London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) for the provision of malaria reference laboratory services in England and possibly other parts of the UK. The Malaria Reference Laboratory will provides an integrated service for public health in relation to malaria in the UK. This includes: — malaria diagnosis, — epidemiological data, — prophylaxis advice to health professionals, — technical advice on methodology and laboratory procedures. Turnaround time for test results must be next working day for microscopy and 2 working days for PCR. The laboratory is projected to have to test approximately 1600 microscopy and 2000 PCR tests per year. The initial contract will be for 2 years with the option to extend for 3 years (2 + 1) with mutual agreement.
