BIM is the state agency tasked with development of the Irish seafood sector. BIM is committed to providing commercially relevant and innovative services to the Irish seafood industry that drive growth opportunities, leading to a thriving Irish seafood industry. As detailed in the agency’s five year corporate strategy ‘Capturing Ireland’s Share of the Global Seafood Opportunity’, this will include a specific focus on adding value, enhancing competitiveness, developing efficient supply chains and creating jobs in a sustainable, natural resource based industry for the benefit of coastal communities. In so doing, BIM will deliver on the Government’s Food Wise 2025 targets for seafood and create sustainable jobs. Bord Iascaigh Mhara is ideally placed to deliver these courses to the industry, utilising key organisational and infrastructural elements that will benefit in the ongoing safe and sustainable development of the industry of Ireland. Two of these courses are QQI level 6 Commercial Scuba Diver and QQI level 6 Surface Supply Diver. These courses will be delivered from The BIM National Fisheries College in Castletownbere Co. Cork. To facilitate the delivery of these courses BIM the interested parties to tender to supply the following services for a 3 year period to the end of October 2021. The supply of a floating flat topped barge, or equivalent craft, for a period of 19 weeks per annum, split into two separate 9.5 week blocks. The barge must have flat deck space to accommodate a 20ft ISO container and a 10ft non ISO container. These containers must be secured to the deck of the barge in an appropriate and safe manner. It must have adequate deck space for a robust habitat and toilet facilities adjacent to these containers.
