The British Council conducts examinations in more than 100 cities across the MENA region managed from British Council offices in the different countries. The British Council has chosen to contract a number of functions to external providers, including the recruitment and employment of non-permanent personnel. The British Council has decided to limit this exercise initially to five countries that are included in the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC), namely Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman. The British Council needs non-permanent staff on various occasions throughout the year in the GCC countries. The greater part of this need is to administer examination sessions for UK qualifications, but the provider should expect to supply staff for other purposes in addition to this. The provider is expected to supply and effectively manage the provision of non-permanent agency workers to British Council in the GCC counties.
