Tender description
BEIS, with the support of Arup as programme management contractor, intends to appoint contractors to deliver packages of work, up to a total of 20m GBP, for a hydrogen for heat demonstration programme. The packages of work will consist: 1) Definition of a hydrogen quality standard; 2) Establishing an appliance and equipment testing capability; 3) Development of domestic hydrogen appliances; 4) Understanding commercial appliances; 5) Understanding industrial appliances; 6) Assessment of suitability of existing buildings; 7) Trialing hydrogen appliances in unoccupied buildings. They may be divided into lots that may be awarded individually or in groups. The programme will help support and inform future policy appraisal, the development of policies and measures to meet UK carbon budgets and the capability to support further hydrogen programmes. The programme will finish by end of March 2021.
