Tender description

The all Wales therapeutics & toxicology Centre is the leading agency which provides highly specialist medication evaluation services to the All Wales Medicines Strategy Group and Welsh Government. AWTTC and AWMSG will require highly specialised health economics consultancy. The volume of work required can be ad-hoc and will be agreed on a project by project basis. The engagement will focus on the delivery of AWTTC’s work programme to Welsh Government and will include: 1. Critique the health economic submissions received from pharmaceutical companies for appraisal by the All Wales Medicines Strategy Group up to a maximum of 40 per annum. This will involve providing an overview of the appropriateness of the modelling and highlighting strengths and weaknesses in the case for cost-effectiveness; 2. working with the AWTTC lead health economist to copy edit the health economic (HE) sections of the Appraisal Assessment Reports to improve the formatting, style and accuracy of text and inform the author of the HE section of suggested changes (if they are necessary); 3. representing AWTTC at a strategic level, when appropriate, in relation to national developments and in accordance with agreed principles and/or approach; 4. advising on the appropriateness of pharmaceutical company appraisal submissions (i.e. screening information on receipt of the submission); 5. quality assure health economic assessments to ensure robustness of process; 6. participate in telephone conversations with pharmaceutical companies to discuss potential and on-going submissions; 7. the provision of annual training in health economics to the All Wales Medicines Strategy Group (AWMSG) and its sub-group, the New Medicines Group and attend/present at the annual AWMSG Masterclass; 8. attendance at occasional ad hoc meetings to act as AWTTC’s advisors in health economics.
